VIPS (Volunteers in Police Service) are a group of ordinary citizens dedicated to exemplary community service and public awareness through the West Jordan Police Department. They are a highly trained and motivated force of volunteer workers, performing non-hazardous police functions in the community. VIPS assist the department in Support Services, Patrol, Traffic and Detective Divisions. Their countless donated hours make the City of West Jordan a better place to live, work and play.

The West Jordan Police Department volunteer program is affiliated with the national Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) program, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. 

Why VIPS?
Volunteers are not utilized to replace sworn officers or other paid positions but rather to enhance the overall efficiency of the agency. Their efforts help reduce crime and increase the services that the Police Department can provide to the community.

How do I become a volunteer?
In order to become a volunteer, a citizen must first participate in the West Jordan Police Department Citizen Police Academy.
