The West Jordan Fire Department currently provides Advanced Life Support service at each of our four stations. We have 38 Firefighter/Paramedics who deliver the highest level of pre-hospital care, whether it be a medical problem, trauma or pediatric emergency. Our paramedics continually train with the most current methods, equipment, and medications available. We have an ongoing commitment to provide the best service. We recently added the capability to analyze a patient’s heart rhythm using a 12-lead EKG at the patient’s home, for those patients suspected of having cardiac ischemia. This EKG rhythm can then be sent through wireless technology to the cardiac catheterization lab at Jordan Valley Medical Center. If the patient is having a heart attack, paramedics can bypass the emergency room and transport the patient directly to the “cath” lab for cardiac surgery. This saves time when it is most crucial.
